Simple. Random.
A little over a week ago I decided I was unhappy where I was, and I was going to change my lifestyle for the better.I began by deciding to stop drinking soda’s, alcohol(already didn’t drink it much), and any other beverage in the future I feel is too unhealthy.
The next thing I decided to do was to go to bed earlier. I was going to bed between 3-6 am every morning while staying up all night drinking multiple cans of soda, eating junk-food, and playing video games nonstop.
Which brings me to my next change. I will admit something that I now feel embarrassed and ashamed of. I am known around my family as a person who (now used to)loves video games. I would play them endlessly. I had nearly 30 games to choose from. So once I got bored or beat one game. I could always switch it up. It transformed into a really unhealthy habit which I took way too long to realize. If you were to take away the sleeping hours in a week, I was probably playing video games about 90-95% of the time I was awake. So last Sunday night, as I was in bed thinking of ways I could improve my life for the better. I thought about my unhealthy video game addiction, I never took ownership of. What better way to improve on my life than to eliminate the biggest obstacle standing in my way? So I’ve decided to sell my XBOX 360 and all the things that go with it.
Immediately after deciding this, I felt a sudden motivation to exercise and get fit. So for the next 3 days I was searching everywhere on line for a weekly workout routine I could follow that could eventually get me a healthier body. After nearly 2 1/2 days of searching, I could not find any routine that I thought would keep me motivated to stay with it. So I went to the place I always go when I have a question… Yahoo! Answers. I asked the question, “What would be a good exercise routine to start out with?”. I got some answers, but one really stuck out. Someone who went by the username of “Vangie”, recommended to me the BeachBody.com exercises. So after looking at some of these videos on YouTube.com about “Insanity”(that was the one I was most familiar with. My cousin does it.), I immediately purchased it about an hour after seeing the question on Yahoo! Answers.
Once purchasing Insanity, I started doing all the research I possibly could to try and prepare myself for what awaited me when my package arrived. I was talking to people on the teambeachbody.com website about their experiences with the workout. All of them said the same thing, “It was INSANE!”. But all of them preached to me the motivational ability of ShaunT who helps you tremendously to get through the workout(what many call “The Hardest Workout EVER Put On Video”. Another thing I was doing is asking every single person I could, what they ate during the workout. They mostly said things like fruit, veggies, protein, and carbs. Carbs to give you energy, to help you get through the workout.
As I went to sleep last night, I reflected on the previous week, and was really satisfied on the things I did to attempt to improve my life. As a result of not playing video games I was able to go to every one of my little brother’s little league games(something I barely did last year). As a result of going to bed at 10-12 pm every night, I woke up early in the morning which I found I love doing if I have enough sleep.
So here I am Monday. Around 7 am in the morning writing this blog entry. The post office opens at 8:30, and you better believe I will be there to pick up my Insanity within the first 30 minutes of it being open. I am ready to work harder than I ever have with a very motivational person, who I am confident will help me in the next 60 days, a ton. I know that Insanity will not change my life alone. But the confidence I hope to gain from it(knowing I can accomplish something as difficult as this), I will look to use going forward in my everyday life.
Thanks For Reading. Hopefully more positive blogs to come.
